It's So Hard To Move On

by Chereen Fredericks

It's so hard to move on
when you're still loving what's gone,
your heart bleeding and torn,
a lover scorned.
You left but you didn't say Goodbye;
you didn't even take the time to lie.
You just left me sitting here asking why.
Promising myself this would be my last cry.
A last cry, I cry everyday
so cruel to live life in this way.

It's so hard to move on
when you're still loving what's gone.
So lonely and forlorn
as life around you moves on and on.
Afraid to let it sink in,
you're no longer my lover and you were never my friend.
I weep not for my memories
but for the pain of abandonment that brings me to my knees.
It's so hard to move on
when you still love what's gone
always wondering what went wrong.
And even through I know it's wrong,
I still live in the memory of our song.
The nights we made love and watched the snowfall,
me snuggled in your body from moonlight to sunlight,
did it mean nothing at all?
The way you held me and called me your "ginger bread baby"
When you looked in my eyes and said, "I'm forever your lady."
The candle light dinners, the music we listened to,
I was l loving you but she was loving you too.
I know it's a crime but thoughts of you still creep into my mind.
And I want you to know if I could turn back the hands of time;
I'd do anything to make you all mine.
And if you should ever change your mind you can come back anytime,
back to get this love of mine that's waiting for you.
