Dedicated to the Memory of “Trayvon”

by 1st Poet

Look in my eyes
What do you see?
I’m a reflection of the one who created me
What is it that you see that make you hate me so much?
Am I different because of the color of my skin?
Do we not all have the same beating heart within?
Do we all not get judged by the same wickedness of sin?
Yet grace gives us another chance to repent
Another chance to get it right
Another chance to save a life
Another chance to yield to “Yah”
Another chance to live and not die
Some times I cry
Brother “Trayvon” should have never died
His life really just begun
Quickly cut short from wicked hands using a gun
How would you feel if it was your son?
His parents showed dignity and grace!!
Yet you can look at them and see the pain on their face
“America” what a disgrace
Haven’t black people suffered enough as a people?
How long will “America” continue to patch up racism in the land?
Hiding behind the church the most segregated place on Sunday morning worship
