To Take A Life

by 1st Poet

How long must tears keep flowing like a fall
Young black men keep dying for turf war brought on by drugs
Taking the easy way out of life believing it's the only way to survive
Fighting for crumbs from the secret society of drug dealers in America
who by night ship these drugs in the inner cities of the poor
Taking millions leaving these urban communities
with young black men ready to kill each other to take over a neighborhood
Addicted mothers, fathers, brothers, anyone who will take the bait
He can't even see he's killing his own people not to mention his intention
To kill another soul for a few pennies
because he doesn't understand the meaning of genocide to his own people
Brothers please wake up and face the truth
we were created to serve God in everything
too many of us are seeking things
The images we see of ourselves in the media the car,
the gold, blood diamonds in our teeth
Don't you know they came from africa and the brother who dug them up
got no more than a few dollars or a bag of rice
I love you black man but we got to value one another
each one teach one thats what the ancestors taught us
I agree education is the key but that's not all of who we are
true knowledge lies within but you got to stay sober minded
to hear God calling us in the wind
Your life has meaning your destiny and purpose resides within
only God knows the plan Jer 29:11
