Another Soul Lost Today

by Carlton L. Scott

How long will black mothers keep cryng
Because their sons are in the streets dying
when will black men get fed up
and demand accountability from each other
Without all the bling the blang the titles and fame
We need to shed ourselves of all the eurocentric ways
Another Soul Lost Today
When will preachers get real and stop hiding in the church
Take to the streets where all the sinners meet
All the degrees, grand buildings and fancy cars well tailord suits
Yet our children are still dying and where are you
Another Soul lost Today
The same old elected politicians take to the airways
To get their five minutes of fame on a grieving parents childs name
No solution only blame broken promises yet again
Come on my people let's get real
we need to start loving each other and stop hating
By tearing each other down separated by class
Did we forget our ancestors' past
how we once shared the same pain
being shackeled in chains beaten
and forced to take on another name
