They tried to tell me search was in vain
Because I wanted to know how I got this white mans last name
Some said they didn't want to know about the past
I just saw ignorance from a fool who was still enslaved
Still carrying on the masters plan
by not knowing who and whence his ancestors came
Walking around proud to have this slavery name
I'm going to keep on looking until I can go all the way back
I need to know my past to help me go forward
and pave the way for the next generation
Record all the past and present information
Wake up young black nation know thy self from creation
They told me it should not matter because I was born again
Made a new creation from the seed of Abraham
So my mind drifted back to Genesis how God created genealogy
That we could see where all man kind descended from
could it beby design programming our minds to keep us blind?
All I know is that inside my spirit yearns to know the true past
That I've been disconnected from because of unclean hands
Hiding the truth about who are my people on the shores of the other side
Looking for us to return eyes filled with tears because
I can't remember the shores of Africa from where my ancestors came
