BLACK BOY
(Black Man)

by B.J. Burgins

Fret not
for the world wants to be You,
YOU, YOU, YOU, YOU -

and the worldly residents hate you
because they're not You,
wishing they spoke your language
and held your tone.

Real art thou
deeply true art thou,
just be,
don't wonder how;
for it's you -
Be,
for the world wishes it were you.

There's no secret part of you,
many think
but they don't know,
so Learn You
Be Yourself and Love thyself
and let YOU Be so
before thy time comes to go.
