don't throw that switch in vein tonight
you weren't given the right
to burn the soul of a living man
to snuff out God's ray of light
don't fuel that serpent's endless hunger
or pour gods children away
For he fills his empty cup every time
with the imperfections of our selfish ways
the life of a victim for the life of a sin
is not our barter to make
to atone for another mans cardinal sins
are not our fields to rake
these man-made wrongs we condemn
like systematic sin
are the serpents tasteless left-overs
re-cooked in the governor's den
many ways we go astray
just paths we fail to take
but is it you who hold the signs of fate
that route the road that a soul must take?
Have faith in God,
God in you, God in me
to judge our evil ways
for the answers that we fail to see
will guide us on our way.
