The Generations Lost to Slavery

by BlakSistah

Blood, tears, sweat, and pain
Mindless acts committed against my people in vain
The beatings, the torture, the chains, and weight
The payers to God asking, “is this my fate?”

The families ripped apart and sold like hay
Who the hell told the white man that this was ok?
Women raped impregnated and raped again
Where in the constitution allowed this to happen then?

The escape to the north the capture and return to the south
A safe way to leave with out returning was hard to figure out
Back breaking labor under the sun
Picking cotton and tobacco there was no time for fun

Killed jailed bombed beaten
Over 300 years being mistreated
Segregated integrated separated lost
Being born black came with a great cost

The land of the free and the home of the brave
A great and mighty nation built on the back of a slave
