He climbed up a slope
To deliver words to bring us abundant hope;
His amazing parables were miracles of happiness
That flowed through us like refreshing water through a gill.
And I’m awed with unlimited trust as I look towards
That Light on a hill.
Yes, His words were made to give worship,
And to make the gray of a cloudy day glisten.
So come young and old; come sick and poor.
Come weak and strong; come all who would listen.
That is why I read the scriptures. That is why I daily pray.
Because I want to feel His magnificent glory in every way!
Yes, I want to be uplifted. I want so truly to feel
That Light on a hill.
Hey brother, do you hear His voice calling?
Then why are you stalling?
Hey brother, do you hear His voice calling?
Then let your heart say, “Yes, I will! Yes, I will!”
Yes, I will surrender my life to
That Light on a hill.
For Christ is extending
His hand with infinite love and appeal.
Say yes, I want to be His disciple and to follow Him
Across the green pasture, or the battlefield.
Say yes, I want to be a candle of love
For that Light on a hill.
Now let the timid rise and the tyrants fall
Before His almighty shield!
Once living in the shadows of sin
Left me battered and torn.
Before my life was completely shattered,
I reached up to Jesus Christ and got reborn.
Yes, His mercy will fulfill.
That is why I witness my love
For that Light on a hill,
Whose sermon taught me a better life to build.
And to no more temptations shall I yield!
Praise hallelujah! I’m dipping my blemished soul
Into the Balm of Gilead. Yes, I’m seeking that Supreme King
Who broke a loaf into a thousand loaves of bread;
Who raised up Lazarus from the dead!
For only He can calm the storms over my head.
Yes, I’m seeking that Supreme King
Who whispers, “Peace be still.”
While my spirit keeps ascending to
That Light on a hill.
Through patience and sacrifice, I get closer to His grace
For I want to be lifted up to a higher place,
Where I shall embrace the everlasting joy and triumph
That His words reveal;
Where I shall embrace that Light on a hill!
