Stitches In Time

by Levi James Baldwin III

Is life just pain...
for the black man to endure?
Is their justification...
for being the front line in wars?
Long hours are spent...
in contemplation.
How to solve minority poverty...
in this nation.
Even more hours are spent...
working to pay off rent.

Free minutes used...
to enjoy life.
I sit and ponder about...
my future wife.

Will she be a genius...
with a lions heart?
Having the physique of...
an egyptian deity.

Or will she be exceptional...
in academics?
Yet a student of...
earth and sea.

Regardless of color, religion, an creed...
I await her patiently.
Time sewn together in stitches...
let's me glimpse love briefly.
