Distant Places (For Love Lost)

by Levi J. Baldwin III

To reminisce on the love lost...
leaves my emotions raw and meloncholy.
Each time I relive the passion...
that had my world bright and jolly.
So many distant places I wanted...
together for us to explore.
Caribbean sun shining down so...
sand glitters like diamonds by the shore.
Rolling hills and valleys covered...
in lush green grass and wild flowers.
Softly whispered words of love...
made me a superman with no powers.
To many bitter statements were made...
with no apology to follow.
Leaving wounds that could not heal...
and hearts empty and hollow.
Shallow smiles attempt to hide the pain...
still burning the heart from venomous words.
Heated arguments with flying objects...
soaring through rooms like wingless birds.
They say it's better to have loved and lost...
than to have never loved at all.
The person who made that quote never loved...
or they would still wish for their true love to call.
