Athena Dixon is a graduate of Kent State University (BA Sociology) and current English major at Youngstown State University. She is the 2004 Africana Studies Program Poetry Slam Winner and a teaching artist at the SMARTS Center in Youngstown, Ohio. She has been published in The Penguin Review, Awareness Magazine, Rolling Out Urban Lifestyle Weekly among other publications. She performs in the NE Ohio/PA area at venues such as The B&O Station, The Shadow Lounge and Our Place. Athena is the copy editor for www.twenty5magazine.com and has featured on several cds.
