Complete Loneliness

by Arthurine B. Rice

Tears fall slowly down my cheeks
Like rain from the sky
It's miserable being lonely
All I want to do is cry.

Lonely, as waves that splash
The beach during off season
There's time for everyone to be lonely
Only God knows the agony and reason.

Something troubling my mind,
Something hurts deep in my soul
My problem needs to be told,
But there's not one friend, not a single soul.

Darkness, like it is when
The sun has gone down
I lay quietly on my bed to rest
Not a human or animal around.

I never awakened from my sleep
Now they wonder why I died like this
If they had listened, they would have known
It was because of complete loneliness.
