Black Woman

by Arthurine B. Rice

Black Woman, Black Woman
You deserve a crown
We'll stand beside you
When others let you down.

You walk with your head high
And with much pride
For God has always
Been by your side.

Hard work and crying through
The lonely tiresome years
Still, Black Woman, you earned respect
>From your family, friends and peers.

You're God's gift to us
And his greatest creation
>From you we got love,
Our pride and inspiration.

You kept your strength and hope
Although society hasn't been good to you,
Your strength, hope, love and
Encouragement pulled our family through.

We often see love and joy
In your motherly eyes
>From you, we've learned to love
And hold tight to our Black pride.

You should never feel pain
Nor should you ever cry
For we see you as an angel
Sent to us from the sky.

Oh Black Woman, Oh Black Woman
You're God's greatest creation!
We raise our flag, tilt our hats, salute
And give you a standing ovation.

Black Woman, Black Woman
You deserve a crown
We'll stand beside you
When others let you down!
