Picture Wonderland

by Ronald L. Wise

Eight different pictures
on the wall of mothers home-

sun drawn, chains broken
African King with his chest out

Little old woman,
hat tilted to the side
pain on her face, stillness
of pride

Eight different pictures
on the wall of her home-

River of trust,
with a crowd on it banks
preachers hands on the back,
of one disciples neck

Four little boys,
faces ready and game
one wit a stick,
must have been caught in mid-play

Eight different pictures
on the wall of her home-

Egyptian princess,
skin beautiful
chin held high, and proud

Picture of a flower,
the largest on her wall
blossomed to perfection
wit a frame made of gold

Eight different pictures
on the wall of her home-

Little black girl,
dressed in pink,
hands on the black and white keys
ready to sing

Two pictures down,
is a portrayed of me
