Hung By Rope

by Lionel C. Whitehead

At the age of nine I had trees on my mind.
"Screamed V to the knee" when I should have declined
Introduced to the streets with a rope on my neck
Girls name "Mama" and "Blue" tried to choke me to death.

They said I talked like a punk so I learn to talk slick
Put a limp in my walk but that wasn't it.
Changed my name to "Boss Hogg"
After they called me "Cut Throat"
I hated it because it was no joke

It was here that I was introduced to the streets
To young to understand the meaning of pain
All I know is it cut oxygen from my brain
    Must have drove me insane
Because now I am behind the wall
Boss Hogg is still my name
    No longer
    Fighting in the streets
    or running with a gang
    I'm no longer ashame.
since those days a lot have changed.
Jesus Saved me an took away all the pain.
