The Hard Way

by Lionel C. Whitehead

"Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers"
But I did not listen I joined in with many, and I learned
Almost too late I learned plenty.
For I yoked with many
For what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness?
It did not take long for me to find out why it was wrong
Once they messed me up they left me a lone, to fen for myself
Not a one of these unrighteous creatures gave a care.
And what communion hath light with darkness?
The darkness that surrounded me that you wouldn’t believe.
It brought me in the end down to my knees
And what concord hath Christ with Belial?
I met Belial in the flesh he made my life a living mess.
Or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel?
All of the infidels attacked at once,
Not a one of them gave me any slack.
They took my home and left me a shack,
Then they ate all my food and didn’t even leave a snack.
All of them gained weight and are now fat,
While me I am poor as a bean pole and will never forget
How I invited them in and they treated me like that.
And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols?
Not a thing if you know what I mean. Even if it might seem
Like it when you first meet, I tell you the temple of God is gentle
As sheep. Know that sheep’s is something idols love to eat.
For ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said,
The temple of the living God is precious beyond belief
God’s temple does not belong to liars and thieves, or any
One or thing that cheats.
I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God,
And they shall be my people so said God
To walk with God one must have a heart
To hear Him one must have an ear,
For God to dwell with your mind must be clear.
Wherefore come out from among them,
And be ye separate, saith the Lord,
No more drinking, dating, and hanging around
You must cut loose all those that are not sound
Whom you use to hang around. You must stop
Doing the things you use to do if to thine own self you will to be true.
Or else The Father will not dwell with you.
And touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you.
Give it up, stop right now, no second thoughts, lets it go
You can’t do that any more. And then He will
Be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters,
Saith the Lord Almighty."
