Addressing a Man 1
Lionel Whitehead
When someone addresses a grown man as "Boy,"
It agitates anger.
No matter whom you are
The utilization of that terminology is a deep
Humiliation.
It's the spoken word among many up in here
Boy, punk, bitch there are many labeled as tricks.
Boys used to grow up to be respectable men
These days some never really mature
Dirty and dishonest thoughts fill their minds
They don't even make the effort to stay pure
The likeness of God upon that individual is subbed.
The recognition of his manhood is denied.
Many times fights occur.
Especially where Christ is denied.
Angry men throwing punches up in here
Causing great trouble ups in here
Boy, man, it, bitch, she, he
Lifers not the only one with thoughts
Such as these.
Gang rape, foul play
Among those denying they are gal
Addressing a Man 2
Lionel Whitehead
Tony had sex with Robert last night
Robert found, out he did as well with his best friend
Sexual Transmitted Diseases are constantly spread
When will all this impurity end?
I got no idea if it ever will when it's sex
Performed by men to men
What happened to getting to know each other
That dead beat said
Johnny turned and popped him in his bald head
"Man I am a man just like you I've balls betwixt my legs
here there will be no one night stands
You've best to go use your hands."
Addressing a Man 3
Lionel Whitehead
Bring back the days of old fashioned masculinity
When males was men and stood their ground
And didn't have to worry about being gang raped
By low down thugs just hanging around
Got nothing better to do then mess up the lives
Of young boys that can not protect themselves
What ever happen to men being men.
And boys being boys. because of respect and of honor?
The older men teaching the younger men how to
Stand their grounds
My Lord is there any more straight men around?
Addressing a Man 4
Lionel Whitehead
Let's not be afraid to use this term
"I'm a man, I'm straight I am not gay
And no will make me that way."
There's so much pressure nowadays
It's everywhere; in school and on TV
Where did all these messages come from?
What are we teaching our kids to be?
What happened to a traditional movie night?
Perhaps bowling or miniature golf
Now they go out and get high all night
And these kids wonder why they wake up with a cough
It's true; there are some very nice guys out there
But their numbers are far too low
While some girls want an easy guy
Most of us want one who won't mind taking it slow
I asked the question and she said to me
"Personally, if I die a virgin
I can't explain how proud I'll be
To not have slept with the fools in school
Sure makes a woman out of me"!
Some boys constantly have sex on their mind
Some are constantly looking for fun
That's why not every boy is a man
Nor does he become one
Addressing a Man 5

Especially where Christ is denied.
Angry men throwing punches up in here
Causing great trouble is all ups in here
Lock downs happens because one wants power
And one knows not, how to turn the other cheek
To turn the other cheek many times, price is too deep
To allow a repeat of this happening a second time
From such a disrespectable creep.
The word "Boy" up in here has caused a many
Of fellow inmates to be put to sleep.
Life up in here is played very cheap.
Addressing a Man 6
Lionel Whitehead
During slavery, black men where intentionally
Stripped of their manhood and reduced to
Boyhood by those who felt their white skin was
Their license to dominate an entire race.
The white man didn't just want his space
He wanted control of all space.
Nothing truly have changed
It is all the same.
Different places same game
Unfortunately, that same attitude prevails in
The greater majority of white America today.
The echoes of a distant past continues to chant
"Boy" towards black men and prays for
White supremacy to live.
So up in here they yet attempt to throw us
for many of us so many of us are yet being killed.
Some losing their lives just to obtain a descent meal.
Addressing a Man 7
Lionel Whitehead
The Black Americans have languished
due to the on-slaughter
Of this evil mindset of ownership long enough.
Enough is enough one would think,
so tell me if you can, how do lifers win.
All said and done, so much advice
But, who out there will fight for us?
We are losing this present generation,
who joined us so foolishly.
I feel their anger, they try yet to reject
passivity, for their frustration calls for action
But up in here, if they come, young and dumb
they might become another males satisfaction
all labeled heavy actions.
Yet without leaders, their action lacks steering,
and become self destructive, loosing totally their way
Our only hope is to prepare this next generation with
the wisdom of the aged.
If any of them are to be saved.
Because when they come up in here, they are
bound to become another maid, slave, called babe.
Addressing a Man 8
Lionel Whitehead
If you love your sons, if you love your daughters
Mark their entrance into manhood, into womanhood
and they'd not come to these places,
just telling you, and you, trying to save you face.
Teach him how to be a man, stop calling him boy
coming up in here, a boy soons become a toy
age and sizes don't mean a thing,
pretty boys complete thugs dreams
by any mean.
Mother dad, do not raise him as your little boy
raise him to be a man,
if not up in here, he do not stand a chance
Instill responsibility and accountability
Parents, sharpen your parenting skills.
Study to show yourselves approval
Unto God! Teach your sons economics.
how to build a financial empire.
If you don't know, then let it become a family project,
and you all learn together
Teach them the principle of saving;
stop making excuses about what you can't afford.
It doesn't take a lot of money to instill this principle.
On how to be a man or how a man should think
once up in here, no true values will they be taught.
Addressing a Man starts at home, in daddies house
lands in the head enters into the heart
keeps him protecting his dignity, intergity instead
of being used and cowarding behind vanity as
he strives to hold on his humanity, slowly loosing his
masculinity giving up his sanity. These things does not come
easy to up in here, where many will never be free.
