Dr. Vida. M. Gaynor is currently awaiting with much anticipation, life’s next assignment! Born in 1926, reared and educated in New York, she married at age 17 and gave birth to two sons. Several years later, a university level certificate in accounting enabled her to become a public accountant and over an 18 year period she held a number of very responsible positions in New York. Involvement in the civil rights movement in the United States, coupled with an interest in the decolonization movements in Africa, led her to Tanzania, East Africa where for 6 years she worked as the country’s first female accountant. A series of stunning spiritual experiences brought her back to the United States in 1976, entry into graduate school and a Ph.D in clinical psychology.

Dr. Gaynor retired after 9 years as a staff psychologist in a Maryland psychiatric hospital, to operate a part-time clinical practice; produce motivational videos for children; and work with non-profit organizations dedicated to the education and health of Black people here and in Africa. After the death of her younger son in 2002, she moved to Jackson, MS., where her surviving son and family and twin grandsons reside.
