Life As A Packrat

by Vicki Hall

Hello world, it's a brand new Day
In the life of this Packrat in total disarray

Don't misunderstand me; my house is pretty clean
It's just not the neatest place you've seen.

It's time for work, at 8 sharp my bus leaves
I've got my briefcase, but where are my keys

Raining outside, can't deal with wet hair
So where's that umbrella, upstairs somewhere.

I do my housework - try to keep things in place
But this Packrat keeps shopping and running out of space

My kitchen is clean, though slightly disorganized
The bathroom is crowded, but totally sanitized

Add another room, Ha. What good would that do
A few trips to the mail and I'd fill that up too.

Now the work week is over, I've got a hot date
Can't find my earrings, even Love has to wait

I'll buy almost anything that catches my eyes
And keep it long after its no longer my size,

I've had it with this, it's making me ill
As soon as I find that telephone, I'm calling Goodwill.
