The Unforgettable One

by Vanessa Richardson

I
I walk amongst the masses and no one stop and stares.
Who cares?

At my entrance no one seems notice.
Hum. I am still focus.

My moment shall come. The moment when I shall
take my rightful position.

As I conquered my life mission.
I am the unforgettable one.

The black woman.

Not due to the size of hips.
Nor the fullness of my lips.

I am deeper than that.
My life can attest to this fact.

I am unforgettable because my testimony is not phony.
I am real. I give you something you can feel.

Denying rejection.
Unforgettable.

Refusing oppression.
Unforgettable.

Objecting to distractions.
Unforgettable.

I am like the sun.
I rise at the right time.

My bright light is needed. Can't touch me.
As there is one who watches over me.

All those lessons learned are unforgettable
they made me who I was meant to be.
Me. I am the unforgettable one.

The black woman.
