You Never Miss A Good Thing 'Till It's Gone

by Vamecia L. Powell

I used to say, “Baby, can I have some extra space”
I used to wonder why he was always in my face
He bought me things for nothing absolutely nothing at all
And I could always look forward to his late night calls
He never forgot my birthday or any other days
And he always said, “Baby, I love your loving ways”
But I responded with the usual,” ok, thanks, bye”
He called; I said my other usual and put him off on the sly
Now, this other girl is calling him her darling sweet
And she’s the girl who’s now kneeling down at his feet
Now that he’s gone I miss him, the notes, the calls, the dates
I finally realize I love him, but now it’s too late
