Once and For All, A Revolution

by Timothy W. Crawford aka "POET"

We don't want a revolution
We don't want the commitment.
We'd rather toss around news headlines
and pull the hair from our scalps.
Once I believed I could lead my peers
sacrifice my life in the pursuit of fate
and then I got a little older
After seeing so many die
so many erode into less than their potential
I found the war in my own mind
I found we need a revolution of thought
a revolution of insight, understanding,
empathy and we can no longer fear
our own demons our own programming.
So, no I won't lead an army
I won't die for the world
I might never feel the complete satisfaction
of knowing I effected change in society.
Yet, I have revolted. I have executed a personal
mental revolution and the satisfaction
never again will my
mind stop me from excelling,
never again will my fears engulf me, trip me up,
and strip me of hope,
never again will I search for outside remedies
to soothe inner frailties,
and this revolution of the soul has given birth
to my future, and now finally
I shine!
"I can only hope that the heat I produce can
shed light on my brothers and sisters still in the shadows."
I shine!
