Black History Poem

by Turia

The Power is in the People!
Frederick and Harriet back in the day
The Underground Railroad was their secret way
Helping our people to overcome,
what the slave Masters had begun
Rosa Parks refused to give up her seat,
vicariously a Victorious defeat
WEB Dubois, doctor and writer, too
Co-founder of NAACP graduate of Harvard U
Mary McLeod-Bethune maintained much knowledge,
She founded Bethune Cookman College
Sojourner Truth was among the first to let then know,
put an end to slavery so my people can grow
Lewis Latimer is remember well,
he made the first drawings for Alexander Graham Bell
The POWER, the REAL power is in the people,
so if you begin to fall
Remember your LEGACY,
stand strong, stand tall!!
