Something From the Black Thoughts of Me

by Troytribe

Just because my skin is black
You don ‘t have to look at me like that
For I am an elegant being
Though equal is not what you are seeing
From the first boat ride where we have died
The journey by each other’s side
Fathers, sisters, mothers and brothers
Traveling here stacked on one another
The horror of our body waste
Contaminating this foul place
Jammed to no movement tight
Our body and voices screaming empty plights
Can this be the nature of the oppressing beast?
Shackle a fellow human with no release
Put the victim in a tortuous bind
Battering the body as well as the mind
No method is too unkind
A primate species, not that of mankind
