Christopher Columbus the man who discovered America
The US of A the land of the free and of the brave
They tell me that we use to work the land and that’s it
Picking cotton as slaves and not having a fit
I’m tired of this
Why didn’t they tell me the truth?
Why didn’t they tell the world that we were kings too?
That Africans came and discovered America as well
That we were once rich and had more than our own people to sell
They told their stories and said it was true
I’m white…King of the world, and that’s what happened to you
Ok enough of that bull shit you have had your glory
When will they turn to us and say, “Now tell me your story”
The story of kings and queens black as the night’s sky
Ruling mighty kingdoms with men and women side by side
Having riches nearly untold
With merchants and goods of silver and gold
We had democracy even before the Greeks
They traveled to our land our knowledge did they seek
With places like Mesopotamia, Egypt and the Nile
A people happy and free living all the while
A land full of beauty and strength
Queens who ruled like Cleopatra, Nefertiti and Hatshepsut
And kings like Ramesses, Amenhotep and the great king Tut
This is my history
The truth you see
I come from a people strong and wide
Having backs that built the pyramids
And boats that crossed the Nile
We survived
Oh yes we did survive
With shoulders that hold our heads up high
