To The White Meat

by Tony P.

When our romance began it was truly amazing
I made you laugh and you did the same for me
We shared quality and quiet time
You healed a wound which was long forgotten

But quiet time and quality time spent
Slowly evolved into bickering and annoyance
Pain from your past slowly crept into our time
Or maybe it was pain out of my past

Bitter words were spoken which pierced us both
Opening the wounds which weren’t truly heal
Showing the white meat under the scab
A scab of denial hiding our fears

Till the white meat was showing oozing with blood
Showing the wound which laid within
A wound of a broken heart which never truly healed
Lying just beneath a scab of denial

Our relationship crumbled because of our proud
Proud of not trying or unwillingness to let go
How can this be
What happen to the joy
Just like a knife plunging into the heart
To the white meat it plunged
Destroying our love
Deep it did plunged never to be removed
