Answers to Frequently Asked Questions
There are 4 ways to send it: You can submit your work by using (1) the
TimBookTu Submission Entry
Form, which is the preferred method or you can send it (2) via
e-mail to editor@timbooktu.com.
(3) Your work can also be sent on disk via regular mail. A final alternative (4) is to
send it typed via regular mail and it will be scanned in. You are strongly
urged to use the first three methods. Please refer to the
Submission Guidelines for more detailed instructions.
You can submit as many submissions as you like but the recommended amount is three submissisons
per month. The editor will only post three of your submissions each month and consider the
additional ones during the following months. It is easier for the editor to keep track of your
submissions if you send them three at a time. Your work will usually appear on the site at the next regular posting if you submit before that
posting date's deadline and if it is selected for posting. However, due to the large number of
submissions received, it may not make the cut for that particular month and will
appear with the following month's group. Editor's Notice: Submissions
are currently taking at least two months to be posted from the time of submittal.
Please be patient. Submissions will stay in the active area of the site for 3 months. After that
time they are added to the archive. After one year, they are removed from the web
site. However, most work stays on the site as long as the author has work that is in
the active area (in other words, if the author has recently submitted new work). You can e-mail your biographical information or changes to existing info to the editor
at editor@timbooktu.com. Photos can also be sent to the same e-mail.
To find out how the featured writer is selected each month, refer to
the Featured Writer Criteria. Submissions that are selected are posted on a first-come
first-served basis. However, due to the large number of submissions received each month,
there are many submissions that may not be prepared in time to be posted. They are then held
over until the following posting date. Ultimately, all submissions that are
selected will be posted. Editor's Notice: Submissions
are currently taking at least two months to be posted from the time of submittal.
Please be patient. Submissions deemed to be too explicit, pornographic, too violent, racist or hate-filled,
or any work considered distasteful by the Advisory Committee, will be refused for publication.
Submissions that contain excessive profanity or sexual content that has no artistic merit may also
be refused. Submissions that contain numerous typos, syntax errors, or other grammatical
mistakes are returned to the author for revision and can be resubmitted.
All new submissions are posted on the Table of Contents page and are listed by the most recent month first with
the new contributors first, followed by the returning contributors. Occasionally, the Author's Index is updated a
few days after the new posting, so if you are a new writer, your name may not appear there initally. Every now and
then the problem with finding the new work may be because you have not refreshed your browser page (or cache) on your computer, especially if you have
visited the site recently. If you still can't locate your work and you received word from the editor that it is there,
please contact the editor and let him know you are unable to locate it.
An index of the current authors with work on the site can be found on the
TimBookTu Author's Page. The e-mail address for the author is found on each author's bio page. If you
can't locate it or they don't have an e-mail address shown, you can send your comments
or questions to the editor at (editor@timbooktu.com)
and it will be forwarded. The TimBookTu Discussion Board is an ideal place to discuss writing topics and interact
with other writers and visitors to the site. The discussion board has forum topics ranging from
writing, publishing, literary events, word games, to areas for off-topic discussions such as current
events and hot topics. You are also encouraged to provide feedback to
the authors directly via their e-mail. See the previous answer for help with e-mail contact.
You can sign in and leave comments in the
TimBookTu Guestbook.
The TimBookTu Discussion Board is another place
to comment and post information that may be of an interest to other writers.
Ajani Bookstore is a division of TimBookTu
and any book can be purchased via the online store. Books are handled through Amazon.com and
TimBookTu gets a small percentage (very small) of the sales. Thus, it is helpful and supportive
of TimBookTu to always begin at the Ajani Bookstore
whenvever you have a book, software, music, or movie purchase to make. If you have work already featured on TimBookTu and wish to have your book
made available to be sold through Ajani Books, your book can be featured on the
Books by TimBookTu Writers page. Books are handled
through Amazon.com). If it is not in the Amazon.com database, you
should contact Amazon to find out how to have your book added.
If you wish to have buyers purchase directly from you,
you should send info on how to purchase your book to ajanibooks@yahoo.com.
TimBookTu publishes on-line only. If you are looking for mainstream publishing
opportunities, a great source for writer's information can be obtained in the
Writer's Resources link. TimBookTu does not print a copy of its contents. However,
there is an anthology of selected works that is available for sale. Visit the
TimBookTu Anthology page for
purchase information.
A link to your website can be added to the Links To Us page, if a reciprocal link
is placed on your site. Other African-American sites are found on the
African-American Links page. Changes and updates are found in the "What's New" section. Other news and information
will be disseminated via The TimBookTu Mailing List on a periodic or as-needed basis. You can sign up for the
mailing list below.
