last night when you said goodbye?
there was no surprise
when you walked away for the final time
I didn't shed a single tear,
and in my heart I knew I was alone but felt no fear
my heart refused to break like the many times before
the past has numbed my soul, pain I feel no more
experience had prepared me for when you decided to leave
with no pain in my heart, why would I grieve?
I just looked at you, with a smile on my lips,
a twinkle in my eye
and closed the door behind you,
