Voidism

by Kimberly M. Thompson

Swallowed up by hollowness
Getting exactly what's been wished for
including the merciless extras
Given the gift encased in thorns
How do I get inside
Do I even want to

A crown placed on a snowy mountain top
The ledges too jagged to climb
Crystalline brightness that blinds
Still glistening is the reward
Is the price much too high to gain

Truth was the precept
Carelessness became the catalyst
Voidism is the thing that has captured me
It surprises me
It questions me
Yet it has no answers for me

Foreign territory...A loss...A death
Where are they to be placed
Nothing to pull from
Not even the source

One running on empty
The other...imploding under pressure.
