Can I Have You

by Kimberly M. Thompson

You are so soft with me

Your voice, your touch, your spirit

I handle you like crystal

Can't push too hard in any one direction

You're scared to let go

Fearing an emotional eruption

Maybe unable to maintain control

Open yourself to me

Don't deny what you know is real

Can I have you?

I know you want me

You censor yourself about me

We both know without words the depth of

our friendship, our relationship, our loveship

Just let me hold you for a while

The way you caress me with your eyes

It's hard to breathe sometimes as if time is

     standing still

Holding onto secrets of the past

Still I'm wrapped around your presence

Like a cobra ready to devour it's prey

I am your best time

The bond we share is strong

We mirror ourselves in the dream of perfection

If only in moments

We study each other inside and out

Seducing each others rhythms

My now with you spares no expense

Can I have you?

I know you want me
