Never Been to Me

by Kimberly M. Thompson

Technicolor glory overhead

Streaks of pinks and purples and oranges and blues

A sheer curtain of continuous clouds

racing by like rush hour traffic

The ocean’s endless rhythms

creates tapestries in my soul

A comfort zone created with just me in mind

My cup runneth over….

In the distance a figure appears through the mist

A sense of familiar blankets me as the walk closes in

I see bewilderment in this woman’s face

the face she sees before her is her own

Drawn to one another like magnets

The closer we get…the clearer the vision…the wider the smile

I may have been to many different places but…

I’ve never been to me

“Hello Fearless, nice to finally meet you.”

Fearless speaks “I’ve been waiting much too

long for your embrace”

As our fingertips touch the force of one unites us together

Turning to the horizon walking toward the ocean

Fearless assures me, Fear, that she will protect me

Stepping out on faith with Fearless by my side

We float aimlessly with no boundaries

I am home
