Bought here on this foreign land
and strip of our hertiage by bloody hands
As the whip cracks and the blood seeps
beneath the flesh of generations deep
As families are torn apart in shame
while master of the plantations bids a game
cry, mothers cry
why, fathers why
The souls that's hung from destine trees
injustice cries out from the Negro communities
As the neck of the negros are being hung
the spiritual hymns are being sung
As the echo of hate spreads though out the land
as mothers nurture dying hands
cry, cry mothers cry
why, why fathers why
As deception is grown by white men
as freedom is denied though out the land
they hide behind there laws and white sheets
Because of ignorance and fear and no belief
So therefore they want to keep a loose around there necks
of thinking the only way of keeping respect
Pray, pray mothers pray
Halleluiah fathers for this glorious day
A change is going to come and it won't be long
As the prayer was sent forth as a hymn was being sung
