In a house I did dwell
I met a man I loved so well
He came and took my love so free
And now he won't come back to me
I even know the reason why
The other young women are prettier than I
I ran into my room and cried on my bed
Not a word to my mother was said
My father came in real late that night
He searched for me from left to right
In my room there he found
A rope around my neck, my feet not on the ground
And in my jeans a note was found
Dig a hole and dig it deep
Marble stones from head to feet
And on it please place a white dove
To let the world know I died for love.
