Ras (T. K. U. Eitiko) | Tafari |
Albert Nathaniel Barnes, who is otherwise known as Ras (T. K. U. Eitiko) Tafari, is an aspiring author from Coventry, England. He was born and bred in Jamaica. He shares the following, "I am first and foremost a classically trained musician. I succeeded my music instructor in 1969, graduated students to the Jamaica Military and Regiment Bands as part of the Jamaica Defence Force (JDF) between then and 1971 when I resigned, got enlisted in the JDF and became part of the Military Band myself where I played second, first, and the third trumpet. I ended my services in 1973 and started playing pop music with national and international Reggae Groups such as Culture, Twinkle Brothers, Soul Syndicate, Soul Defenders, Natural Ites and the Realistics Band which I led in England between 1982 to 1986. I toured Africa with Teddy Dan and the Fari Rebel Band out of England in 1995 and returned to live in Zimbabwe between 1999 and the year 2000. Also, between 2002 to 2017, I worked as a care in the nursing home for the elderly up until my retirement on 21 October 2017. From my inception of becoming a musician, I have had the passion for writing and intend to pursue it full time alongside my music. The bulk of my works is on the Philosophy of Ras Tafari Whom I exalt as the Returned Messiah, the Almighty Father of Creation."
