I Didn't Get A Chance to Say

by LadyAdrienne

Hello, Goodnight
Just wanted you to know
I didn't get a chance to say goodbye.
Although, I did get a chance to kiss your cheeks,
touch your hands and tickle your feet.
Made you smile, once more, didn't I?

I didn't get a chance to tell you
I would keep all your dreams alive,
and keep your name in a halo of lights.
I didn't get a chance to hear you say,
I am in pain,
just one last night
with my family, Lord!

I didn't hear you say,
My journey's done, I am tired now,
 can I rest in peace.
I did get a chance to hear you hum
your favorite christian song,
 lift your hand
and feel God's presence in you.

You shared your last smile
you felt your family's love
A God sent presence surrounded you.
I had no chance to say goodbye
for the very next day,
You choose a deep sleep
and your will was done.

I remember you said
I love you, daughter, wife and son
with a sleepy whisper
Last spoken words.
words that fulfilled my soul.
No chance to say goodbye

Rest now, rest In peace, my dear daddy,
Good nite,

********
Dedicated to my mother, brother Aaron and family
In memory of my dad
