He is Just a Friend

by Stormy Monday

Effortless conversations and intimate
confessions leave
dark formless impressions.

Inviting arms and gentle kisses
conjure a misting passion
for a paradise
lost and forgotten.

Stolen moments under a
waning moon
cast shadows
upon living memories.

For time is a revealer of truth.

So, when sun kissed lilies
cease to sway
 coral sunrises,
tropical dreams and
joyful stargazing

lie lifeless from the
thoughtless uncaring shift
of winter.

Will the aching of my heart
burn flames of
contempt and betrayal
Will I bespeak the truth?

That he is just a friend.
