House Niggaz

House Niggaz

Why whisper your blackness
in the darkness
with no other race around?
Why look both ways
Before your eyes meet a brother's?
Then let your eyes fall to the ground?
It seems you buy the steorotype
that they're all muggers N murderers.

I have met black men.
I know the strength of our women.
Everyone remembers the holocaust,
Everyone forgets slavery...
Learn of your heritage and be true
To the blackness inside you.
House niggaz, be black too.

Looking down at a brother
Trying to do for himself
and falling over in your haste
to disassociate
You `wear' a white man's life
over your dark skin
Brother, discover who you are!

I will not `behave'
to prevent your embarrassment;
not while we suffer
not till Zion on earth.

My mission
to secure a future for every black child
comfort for every black woman
rest for every black man...

I won't cease my cause for you
I pray that your redemption comes soon.
Be counted now, and on that day
when the world atones for slavery.
And sees our beauty, fully displayed.
