Lee Ritenour's Guitar

by Sheila K. Smith

Soaring:

California condor
feathered, esteemed;
sticky pale white;
rises high, holds attitude.

Earth Run:

Faster than walking
his plural of foot migrates
presses forward;
both feet are off the ground.

If I'm Dreamin' (Don't Wake Me):

To pass in air the suspended slumber;
the sharp sound of feathers;
the noisy hiss of consciousness;
its vain hope--ambition.

Watercolors:

He paints with water
limpid tones
arranged in blues.

The Sauce:

The spice, the subtle spice;
the elements increased
pervade through his pores
to our ears.

Butterfly:

His bright body slender
breast strokes
out of water.

Sanctuary:

Devout bodies;
earth sound
in space ancient
as Roman temples.

Water From The Moon:

California condor;
sticky pale; rises
high; swims around
the earth.
