Luke | Saucier |
By day Luke Saucier is a small business owner, but writing is his passion. He tells the story of how he came up with the fictional story, "Whistler." He relates. "One day a couple years ago my wife and I took a drive down River Road here in Louisiana to celebrate our anniversary by spending the night at an ancient plantation. While driving this story came to me complete. I couldn't wait to get home and write it. The hero is Seaborn, a young slave boy. The themes are loyalty, weakness, betrayal, human nature in all its cruelty and kindness. The story takes place late in the Civil War. While the characters depicted here are fictional, little licence is taken with the history and events of that time. They were more or less as written here. The subject matter is graphic and painful as were the times."
