Concrete Rivers of Rage Winding through a Metaphorical Cage

by Ross Randall Johnson

You can call me a small fry if you so please
Assuming I, one person, am unable to change a single thing
But if I may borrow for a second the words of a king
Indeed I do, “I have a dream”

Whether it consist of helping the downtrodden get by
With motivational words I deliver on the fly
Or by offering encouraging messages to the beggars and thieves
I guarantee, I’m going to change something

If it makes a difference just by giving away pocket change
To the brother struggling to survive on the streets
A familiar man, labeled a failure by others’ unmet expectations
Ladies and gentlemen, it is due time for a revelation

Lastly, if you read this and it bothers you because I
Did not count syllables or end every line in a rhyme
Then I’m sorry you missed the greater message stated numerous times
I am one person and social change will forever be my battle cry!
