A Song fo' Rosa Parks

by Walter Rooks

I walked dat mile,
all da while
knowin’ someone like Rosa
payed my fare.

Could hardly afford
room an’ board;
never a dime
to spare.

I been watchin’ dem wheels
of luck an’ bad deals
go ‘round an’ go
‘round.

I’m gettin’ on dat bus
wit’ my love for us,
‘cause these feet is sure tired
of poundin’ ground.
Lord I’m tired
of poundin’ ground.
