An Hour of Sleep

by Walter Rooks

I've been up all day,
Tryin' to find a way
Fo' da man to leave me alone.
Ain't got no place to call my own.

All I need is an hour of sleep,
An' even that ain't cheap.
He say he got a place fo' me to lay,
But I can't sleep his way.

My eyes are heavy, my body dead.
Just a pillow an' a dream, don't need no bed.
But there's so much I gotta do,
I'll sleep an hour an' dream of two.
