The Breath of Him Now

by Walter Rooks

Intentionally,
she
allowed the dishes to collide;
full blast his insults,
the water to run down,
drain.
Thoughts raced
from
yesterday’s lust,
like new sun rises,
to the breath of him now setting,
vulgar.
It was not
always
this way.
Tomorrow when he woke,
she might be there to ease his hangover,
or not.
