Stand |
by Angela Rocker |
We were uprooted from the land Where we were born to stand, Sailed over in trade between Ourselves and a deceitful man. Enslaved and chained and taught To be ashamed. Maimed for not accepting our slave name. The color of dirt which with Water flourishes the earth, we are Instilled to forget our place of birth. We are yet still a people in Search of our place on this earth. Black women, children and man Lets work in the way of god's plan And we will have the strength to stand. |
