Like One Million Men In One
Some were drugged!
Some were Drunk.
Some were spaced out!
Some was Silly.
Some were speechless!
Some was sarcastic.
Some was Doped Out!
Some were daring.
Some were Smelly!
Some was scary.
Feeling like an apparition in a breathing
Body,
My dignity had already
Diminished
Having to temporarily stay at this men's
Shelter
Was like a mad man meddling in the mess of troubled
Others.
Standing in line at this soup kitchen was like dirt underneath my
Hurt.
Some talked about the
women;
Others talked about jobs, sports, sex, religion, family,
Caseworkers
And recovering from various
addictions.
I stood up straight like a sticking
Needle
In an awkward and humiliating
haystack.
I uneasily mixed in with this
Bunch
Avoiding a sarcastic and unearthly
scene
Unable to still be myself around
Some.
It was now my turn to be served some
food.
I picked up my tray and quickly found a
Seat.
Gulping down my food gazing at the silliness in
others.
I finally rose like a free bird no longer in
Need
As I departed waving
farewell
Now breathing naturally
Away
From living like one million men in
one
In the precious body and soul of only
One.
