Dreams

by Profound

I once read that art imitates life
Consume the fantasy that is someone's reality
Then I miss you

Dwelling in the past space
That was once occupied by your energy
I close my eyes and let go of everything
As I try to capture the traces of you

Imagine your scent and dig deep into myself
For your best smile and sweetest laugh
I bathe in you because you have become a part of me

Thinking just how beautiful we can be
And realizing that I've only scratched the surface

I breathe in spasms when you're hidden from me
My attempts to move backwards and steal pieces of the past
To pacify myself
End in vain

Eager to manipulate this silence of loneliness
Into more than what it is
You have vanished from life like a thief in the night
I stand confused with a misplaced hope
that all will be as it should

Then I wake up
