Shea

by Catherine Prater

His young spirit is untouched

even when life test his faith

with painful blows to his tender heart,

he stands like a soldier

shielding his feelings with his invisible armor,

taking what ever life has to give him with a smile, and a prayer,

grabbing on to whatever happiness that is blown in his direction,

and holding on so tightly trying not to let it slip away,

to leave him faced with the emptiness that fills his heart.
