My Artisan God

by Annette M. Parrott

And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee:
for my strength is made perfect in weakness.
Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities,
that the power of Christ may rest upon me.
2 Corinthians 12:19

My Artisan God

That's the potter in you, that takes the shattered pot, warped with knots,
and makes me into a complete work of art
That's the painter in you that takes a void canvas, vulgar and crass
and fills me with the colors of vibrant life
That's the Maestro in you, that takes the chaotic din and breathes within,
me a melodious harmony that lulls my soul to peace
That's the Sculptor in you that takes an amorphous mound, futile and bound
and gives me freedom through purpose
That's the Architect in you that takes a faulty design
and supernaturally refines me by your perfect plan
That's the Engineer in you that takes each mismatched piece giving me direction
and increase adeptly placing me where i belong
That's the Doctor in you that transplants a broken soul, making me whole
with a Spirit that is your own
That's the Master builder in you that takes the debris and without fee
makes me a memorial to your excellence
That's the Mother in you that takes a lost, scared child and with a gentle smile
       gives me security and rest
That's the Father in you that has taken a slave, bound for the grave
and made me heir to eternity
That's the Lover in you that takes a barren heart, true love thereby imparts
that grows more love for me to give away
That's the Teacher in you that takes a confused mind, and skillfully unwinds the truth
       that I may understand
That's the Provider in you that takes the emptiness and through your righteousness
overflows my cup and saucer too
That's the Comforter in you that takes a tortured life, saturated with strife
and replaces it with joy unspeakable.
That's the Mentor in you that holds my hand so I can stand, exemplifying excellence
in your example through your son, Jesus.
That's the Artisan in you, and I humbly thank you, Awesome Creator
for making an imperfect creature perfected in you.
