Who Knew?

by Carol Elizabeth Owens

Who knew it would be you –
wooing me with interludes
introducing love so true?
Who knew?
Who?
Flirting with one or two
on cue never seemed to do.
Yet you.
You.
Opened my eyes so I
could see through
subterfuge that drew
images askew
strewn amid pure truth
in my life – overdue.
My view.
View.
Expands to embrace
a greater pursuit.
Reminds me to face
dreams of my youth.
To contemplate déjà vu.
A debut.
Debut.
Beginning to realize
now more than ever
pure unity’s ties
are never severed in two
by anything we do.
So true.
True.
Love anew as none I knew
before – a spiritual lore
beyond all limits and more
each boundary, broken through
and bid adieu by me and you.
Who knew?
